Multi-window

Work through conversations in a tabbed window, and follow up to four side by side.

Multi-window is a second window built for working through conversations: one conversation per tab, like in a browser, and up to four conversations of the same creator side by side. Open it from Multi-window in the sidebar, in the desktop app only.

Open the window

Click Multi-window in the sidebar. The window opens next to the main window; if it is already open, it comes to the front. It requires the same right as messaging, View conversations, and shows the same creators. A creator you lose access to disappears from the window, with her tabs.

Tabs

The left column lists the creators. The tab bar shows those of the selected creator.

  • The first tab, Messages, is pinned. It is the creator's full messaging, with her conversation list. It cannot be closed or moved.

  • Each conversation can have its own tab. In the list, right-clicking a conversation offers Open in new tab. In a conversation header, the Add to tabs button does the same. Clicking a notification also opens the conversation in a tab.

  • A conversation that is already open keeps its tab: the window takes you back to it.

A yellow dot on a tab signals a new message. You move a tab by dragging it, and you close it with its cross or with a middle click.

Split view

On a conversation tab, the View layout selector, on the right of the bar, splits the tab: a single pane, two side by side, a two-by-two grid or four columns. The conversations of a split view all belong to the same creator.

  • An empty pane offers Add a conversation. Choose one of the other conversations open in a tab: it leaves its tab and joins the pane.

  • The pane you are working in has a yellow outline. Each pane keeps its number and its cross, Close pane.

  • Four-pane layouts require a window at least 1,400 pixels wide. If the window shrinks, the view goes back to two panes.

  • When you go back to a smaller layout, the extra conversations become tabs again.

In a pane, the reply field gets narrower: the tools that no longer fit move into the three-dot button.

A creator's pages

The Open a page button, at the very end of the tabs, opens one of the creator's pages in a tab: Income, Notifications or Profile. It offers the pages your role can open, set in its Accessible pages, that are not already open.

Get your tabs back

When it reopens, the window asks Restore the previous session? if tabs were open when it closed. Restore the tabs reopens them as they were, Start fresh forgets them. Tabs are kept for your account on this computer: another person who logs in on the same computer starts from an empty window.
