Automations

Slack and Discord connectors

Receive the triggers of your automations in Slack or Discord.

A connector links a Slack or Discord channel of your team to Fansquare. An automation can then post a line there each time it triggers: a big sale, a new subscriber, an important fan coming online. Channels are connected in Settings › Connectors, then picked in the action of an automation.

Connect a channel

The connection goes through an incoming webhook, an address that Slack or Discord creates for a specific channel.

  1. 1

    Create the webhook

    In Slack, open the settings of your Slack app, then Incoming Webhooks, and create a webhook for the channel you want. In Discord, open the channel settings, then Integrations and Webhooks. Copy the webhook address.

  2. 2

    Connect the channel in Fansquare

    In Settings › Connectors, click Connect a channel, then choose Slack or Discord. Enter a Channel name, the one that will appear in your automations, and paste the Webhook URL. It must start with https://hooks.slack.com/services/ for Slack, or https://discord.com/api/webhooks/ for Discord.

  3. 3

    Check

    Click Connect, then Send a test at the end of the channel's row. A test message arrives in the channel.

The webhook address is a secret: anyone who knows it can write in your channel. After the connection, it stays hidden. To change it, delete the channel and connect it again.

The Connectors page requires the Edit agency settings right (see Team and roles).

Manage channels

Each row shows the number of automations that use the channel, and its status:

  • Connected: notifications go out;

  • Paused: you clicked Pause, and nothing goes out until Re-enable;

  • Disabled after failures: the channel refused several sends in a row, often because the webhook was deleted on the Slack or Discord side. Check the webhook, then click Re-enable.

Delete removes the channel for good. The confirmation window shows how many automations use it: they stop sending their notifications.

Notify a channel from an automation

In an automation's editor, the Action step offers Notify Slack and Notify Discord, next to Send a message. Choose the Channel among the agency's channels, and add a Note if needed, added at the end of each notification. Creating an automation is covered in Create an automation.

The notification goes out as soon as the rule triggers for a fan who meets its conditions. Two purchases by the same fan give two lines. To send a message to the fan and alert the team on the same event, create two automations. They run together.

The posted line

Each notification fits on one line: an emoji that gives the type of event, the creator's name in bold, then what happened, with the fan's username.

  • For a purchase or a tip, the line gives the amount paid by the fan, and in brackets the net received when it differs.

  • For Near expiration and Birthday, it gives the due date: today, tomorrow or in a few days.

  • When the event arrived late, the line says so ("il y a 12 min", 12 minutes ago).

  • The action's Note comes last.

Notifications are written in French.
